The more ways we can help the better! Along with offering professional counseling and marriage strengthening workshops, retreats, and events, Friends of the Family also trains, equips and supports people in churches across the state to effectively minister to marriages.

Prepare Couples for Marriage. Over the years, Friends of the Family has trained dozens of pastors, counselors, and lay leaders across the Northwest to become PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitators. PREPARE/ENRICH has been the number one premarital and marriage assessment for over 35 years. Trained Facilitators are able to use this assessment, report, and set of top-quality tools in their own contexts to effectively prepare couples for a lifelong marriage. You can use it with individual couples or with groups of couples. It even works great for already married couples who want to keep growing.

Support Couples with Your Church’s Own Marriage Mentors
Partnering with area churches, Friends of the Family is growing a network of trained Marriage Mentors across the mid-valley. Dare to Be Different Marriage Mentoring can help couples invest in and improve their life-long relationships.
- We can train, equip, and support volunteer couples from inside your church to mentor another couple (2:2)
- We teach a very structured and intentional process that is biblically grounded and has proven highly effective in preparing a couple for marriage, taking a marriage from good to great; and even helping some couples work through difficult issues and heal past hurts.
- If after trying it out, your church wants to grow your own Marriage Mentoring ministry we will help you transition to fully owning the ministry and supporting you in any way we can!

Strategize an Effective Marriage Ministry for Your Church
Without a plan for ministering to marriages that is integrated into your church’s philosophy of ministry, your efforts to support and encourage healthy marriages and families will likely not be as effective or sustainable as they could be. How might God have you and your church more intentionally minister to marriages?
Friends of the Family staff have been trained to present FamilyLife’s Marriage Ministry Workshop. It is a 3.5 hour “hands-on” experience for a church leadership team to walk through together. Small bites, concepts and proven examples for effective marriage ministry are shared. After each brief presentation, you and your team will be given time to apply the concepts to your church’s vision, culture, structure, and demographics. By the end of the workshop, you will have at least an outline of a marriage ministry that is unique to your church.
Every church’s approach to and expression of Marriage Ministry can (and perhaps even should!) look a little different. Let us help you and your church leadership team discover new ways to strengthen marriages that align with who you are as a church.
